Program Description

Adversity University is committed to cultivating spaces where

Black clinicians are empowered to heal, learn, and lead from

their full, embodied selves. This training provides a culturally

grounded, experiential learning opportunity that re-centers the

wisdom of Black communities within clinical education. This

program is rooted in the belief that healing begins when our

stories are not just heard—but honored as knowledge.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the organization’s mission and program initiative.

  • Explain the benefits of Experiential Learning among Black

    clinicians.

  • Explain the Strength-Based Model.

  • Explain the intersection between Strength-Based Model &

    Experiential Learning.

  • Discuss Black cultural norms and how they support the

    therapeutic process.

  • Debrief experiential learning experience.

Coty Martin, LPC.

Coty Martin is a nationally recognized Licensed Professional Counselor, speaker, and the visionary founder of Adversity University — a transformative platform committed to equipping individuals, families, and professionals with the tools to thrive through adversity. With over a decade of experience in mental health education and therapeutic coaching, Coty is known for his dynamic, engaging, and deeply relatable facilitation style.

As a continuing education presenter, Coty brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, real-world application, and motivational storytelling. His sessions go beyond theory — guiding participants through interactive strategies that can be immediately implemented in practice.
